PRACTICE

1 Timothy chapter 4 verses 14 to 16. It says …. (English Standard Version) Do not neglect the gift you have ……PRACTICE these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see you progress. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Let’s look into our lives, and ask ourselves if we have really given the time and effort to the development of our gifts and talents. PRACTICE; Parents, teachers, coaches, gym instructors and even friends have already discussed this activity with you, telling you how important it is and the benefits of practicing. Well, it is clear that the Bible has addressed this.

Before I go any further, stop wondering if you have any gift. The WORD of GOD says everyone has at least one gift. But that’s another thing we can talk about later. Anyway back to PRACTICE. There are many things we do automatically without thinking and that is because we have been doing them most of you lives. Example; teeth brushing. Also we have often heard Singers, Musicians, Olympians, tell of the many hours they devote to the development and mastery of their skill and talent. Well the WORD of GOD has been clearly telling us the same thing. The WORD says do not ignore, PRACTICE, immerse and persist. All these words are describing the extent to which we must go and how focused we need to be as it relates to the development and use of our gifts and talents in GOD.

It does not end yet the WORD tells us why we need to do it. It is to save ourselves and others. All too often, we say we need a word from GOD, well here is one plain and simple ….. Do not ignore the gift GOD has given you. PRACTICE it so that you will get better at it, so that it will becomes your first and natural reaction. Immerse yourself in it so it becomes extremely important to you. Pursue it, develop it, not so that you can boost about it; but that you become confident enough with it and in it, that both you and others will be better by it, be benefited by it, be changed for the better by it and most importantly that you and others will be saved by it.
